Your Singapore Activities Must Include These Dining Adventures

While we may think of Singapore as the center of the finance world in Southern Asia, the city has much more to offer than boring business hotels and board rooms with a view of skyscrapers. The next time you find yourself in Singapore, you may want to consider exploring the many wonderful and inventive restaurants as part of your Singapore activities during your stay. Yes, there are plenty of great Chinese restaurants in the old Chinatown and many of the hotels offer top of the line international faire. But there are also some unique one of a kind places to explore that would only happen in a city like Singapore. So bring you appetite along as you explore these activities in Singapore that are bound to please even the fussiest palate.

Dempsey Hill

This area was once the site of the British Army’s home away from home here in Singapore. The old barracks are set in some of the lushest jungle you can imagine, and then converted into a collection of wonderful cafes, restaurants, art galleries and even a spa or two. It makes the entire area worth exploring as you consider which of the many fine eating places to choose for your next eating adventure. One with an extraordinary setting is White Rabbit. The old army chapel has been converted into a beautiful space and the European styled country comfort food is worth the wait. Don’t forget to leave room for the legendary Black Forest cake for dessert. You can work off the calories by walking up the hill to Margarita’s for a cocktail or two after dinner.

Flying High for Seafood

A set of Singapore activities centered on eating wouldn’t be complete without sampling the local seafood and there is no better place to do it then at Seafood Paradise on Raffles Avenue. Just down the street from the landmark Flyer, where you can view the city from on top of the world’s highest observation wheel, you can enjoy an endless array of seafood of every variety and preparation. The thirty-minute ride on the high-flying Flyer will wet your appetite and your group will still be riding the adrenaline high when they tuck into the fresh succulent seafood that Seafood Paradise always has on order.

Singapore Activities on Bugis Street

Once known as the top red light district of Singapore, this area boasts some of the best period architecture in the city and great local eating. While there may still be a few street walkers selling their wares, this is an area that boasts amazing Malay, Indonesian and Chinese cuisine at very inexpensive prices. For a taste of what the locals eat, you just can’t beat this area for variety, taste and price. Sample everything from fragrant coconut rice to spicy curries and roast pig, all within a short walk of each other.

Why not end the evening back along Haji Lane for a treat at Pluck with its state of the art ice cream parlor? Nothing quite ends a spicy meal like ice cream, and this one is worth the last trip across town for a bite of it’s creamy elegance in the perfect surroundings. The textbook end to a culinary adventure in Singapore.
